post-title

OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company. Its mission is to ensure AI systems that are generally smarter than humans and also benefits all of humanity. It is a non-profit organization but it also holds for a profit company. It is a unique capped-profit model that as AI becomes more powerful, the profits can be redistributed to maximize the social and economic benefits of AI technology. ChatGPT is part of for-profit division and it was first released in November 2022.

Sam Altman (@sama) is a co-founder of OpenAI and he took over the company following co-chair Elon Musk's resignation in 2018. In Altman leadership, OpenAI has shifted to becoming a for-profit entity and Altman convinced Microsoft to invest US$10 billion in cash. He was one of the important person to bring ChatGPT being used across various domains.

Sam Altman has lot of good work under his belt but there are some wrong things he did and board was not happy with that. He was fired back in November 2023 due to safety concerns in handling AI and also there was an allegation of abusive behavior. Later the company employees fought and wanted Sama back. Due to the pressure from employees, Sama was reinstated back as CEO.

This time again Sama got fired due to his wrong doings reveals Ex-Open AI board member Helen Toner, strategy director for the Center for Security and Emerging Technology. In the interview with TED AI talk, She revealed that Sama was holding the Open AI startup fund and he was continuously lying to the board. Open AI being non-profit organization and CEO holding and managing the fund separately is not ethical. ChatGPT was released without the approval of the board and board members got to know from Twitter announcement. There are more allegations against Sama and this time board warns the employees that either support Altman's return or risk the company's collapse.
